SOMETIMES YOU NEED TO ASK TWICE.
When depression hides behind a smile.
When you know ‘I’m fine, thank you’ isn’t true.
When silence seems like a loss of words.

That’s why #DobaraPoocho – because asking again, might help make depression a little more bearable

#DobaraPoocho

"How are you?" "Are you okay?" "How was your Day?" "What’s up?"

All the time we ask and are asked these questions as a form of greeting. The expectation always is a quick monosyllabic answer. Very often they are empty tokens of communication – asked and then immediately forgotten.

You’d be taken aback if the person actually responded honestly on her or his state of mind at that moment!

How many times have we genuinely asked a friend, an acquaintance, a colleague or a loved one how they are and waited for an open, heartfelt response? Superficial responses to superficial questions may give us a false sense of wellbeing, but the truth is that behind that mask, one out of every four Indians are afflicted with depression and anxiety.

Not only is it an imperative to be aware of depression but also to spread awareness of the fact that everyone has the right to deal with depression and that supporting such a person through that journey is the need of the hour.

“Dobara Poocho” was born out of this very need to look at someone again, to observe that someone closely again, to be aware of his or her nuances again, to hold the person close again, to ask again.
